EVENT March 16: Elton John LIVE at Columbus Civic Center

Elton JohnElton John will be performing LIVE at the Columbus Civic Center on March 16 at 8:00pm.

From Ledger-Enquirer:

Elton John is coming to Columbus for the first time for a concert on March 16 at the Civic Center.

The concert, which is part of a nine-city tour, will feature his iconic hits and classic album tracks from his five-decade career.

It also will feature some tracks from his upcoming album Wonderful Crazy Night.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at Ticketmaster.com, which is the only official online ticket source for the concert. There will be an eight-ticket purchase limit per person to keep scalping down.

“The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family and less time touring,” said John, who has a home in Buckhead. “I am all too aware of how precious the time ahead is. My sons are growing up so quickly. Their early years are just flying by and I want to be there with them. This concert will give me a chance to say thank you to my fans here who have been so faithful over the decades. It’s always important for me to bring my music to everyone.”

From Richard Hyatt at Ledger-Enquirer:

Elvis left the building before he performed at the old Municipal Auditorium – a building Bob Hope compared to a parking garage.

Now comes Elton John, and we can only hope he survives long enough to play at the Columbus Civic Center in March.

Tickets went on sale Friday and online buyers were spending obscene amounts of money to see him perform just nine days before his 69th birthday. John will be the biggest name ever to grace a local stage, though we’ve also enjoyed Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, Prince and other members of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Get your tickets now at Ticketmaster.com. Not many are left as of this writing.
